COLT DEFENSE ANNOUNCES “SUPER STOC” AR-15 STOCK
Interesting new product release from Colt Defense. This new buttstock is generating some excitement in an already very crowded aftermarket product field. I think Colt is playing a bit of catch up in an area dominated by the likes of Magpul.
Colt Defense LLC, is pleased to introduce the new Colt® Super-Stoc and announce that it is making the new, leading-edge technology buttstock standard issue on select Colt AR and M4 rifles sold into the domestic commercial and law enforcement markets. The new Colt Super-Stoc, designed by Bill Rogers, will be available later this month.
“Since 1836, Colt has been committed to offering nothing but the highest quality products to each and every customer,” said David Ridley, vice president, Colt Defense. “With the new Colt Super-Stoc, we continue to deliver on that tradition by pairing one of the most advanced stocks available with the best rifle in the world.”
Colt Defense and Bill Rogers have teamed up to engineer the most advanced, third generation of the Super-Stoc, using innovative technologies and proprietary materials. Designed to be as lightweight as possible while maintaining durability, the Colt Super-Stoc weighs 6.56 ounces, ranking it among the lightest stocks available. The stock is designed specifically for the new Colt rifles to give an unequaled fit and survivability during the most extreme conditions.
“The Colt Super-Stoc is one of the lightest, strongest and most secure collapsible stocks for the M4/AR series of weapons,” said Bill Rogers, chief shooting instructor, Rogers Shooting School. “Our partnership with Colt was a no-brainer. We want the highest quality rifle in the world to be outfitted with the world’s newest and most technologically advanced stocks available.”
A unique Cam-Lock system is a new design feature that, when operated, securely locks onto the buffer tube like a solid stock. This Cam-Lock system completely removes any slop or play commonly inherent with aftermarket collapsible stocks as well as eliminating any movement due to wear. The Cam-Lock lever also features a convenient reversible design, enabling the user to customize his or her stock to suit the desired preference. Other features include a removable recoil pad, sling loop, quick detach swivel sling mount and Quick Release lever which unlocks the Cam-Lock and indexing pin with one motion.
The original M4 buttstock will still be made available to commercial and law enforcement customers by Colt Defense. For more information on the new Colt Super-Stoc or Colt’s classic M4 stock, please visit Colt.com.
Colt is making available a new buttstock they’ve recently developed. It represents a third-generation of buttstock technology and was developed in partnership with renowned shooting instructor, Bill Rogers. Colt’s new Colt Super-Stoc is available this month and features numerous improvements over similar buttstocks, listed below.
Fit – Performs like a solid stock –
A unique Cam-lock system securely locks the stock on the buffer tube and removes the slot or play that is all too common in aftermarket collapsible stocks.
Lightweight –
Even with features such as a recoil pad, sling loop, Quick Release level and Cam-Lock system, the Colt Super-Stoc is on of the lightest buttstocks on the market.
Additional Features –
Removable recoil pad, sling loop, quick detach swivel sling mount, Cam-Lock system, Quick Release lever
If anyone gets their hands on one of these stocks I would like to hear your feedback
PARA USA Exits Rifle Market – Ends TTR Tactical Target Rifle
The Tactical Target Rifle is the best battle rifle in the world. It has the remarkable Delayed Impingement Gas System (DIGS) that makes it the softest shooting, most reliable rifle of its type. While PARA USA will cease production of the Tactical Target Rifle, it will continue its tradition of providing unparalleled service in the firearms industry.
PARA USA will continue to service all of the Tactical Target Rifles it has sold. However, the production and marketing of new rifles using the DIGS operating system will be resumed by Al Zitta, the original developer of the rifle.

SIG M400 and SIG M400 Enhanced Carbines Shipping
SIG SAUER, Inc., the leading manufacturer of commercial, law enforcement and military firearms, introduces an improved version of the current 5.56×45mm military issue centerfire tactical carbine, the SIG M400™.
The SIG M400™ has been introduced for consumers who prefer the direct impingement gas system and have an inventory of parts and accessories for the original M4-style carbine. Built with SIG SAUER® quality and reliability, the SIG M400™ is also an exceptional value for those seeking an AR-platform rifle.
To increase accuracy over mil-spec carbines, the SIG M400™ features a tensioning device designed into the lower receiver that ensures a tight lockup and eliminates accuracy-robbing play between the upper and lower receivers. The lower receiver has all the same features as the SIG 516™ such as an ambidextrous magazine release and rear quick-detach sling mount. Both receivers are machined from 7075-T6 aircraft-grade aluminum forgings and coated with a durable phosphate finish.
The upper receiver features an integrated MIL-STD 1913 accessory top rail for mounting optics and accepts most M16/AR15-style furniture. A six-position collapsible polymer stock offers adjustability to fit all shooters. An Enhanced version of the SIG M400 features all Magpul® furniture.
Chambered in 5.56 NATO, the SIG M400™ will be available in semi-automatic for commercial users. Three-round burst or fully automatic versions will be made available for military and law enforcement. Built to full military specifications, the SIG M400™ features a 16″ chrome moly steel barrel with a chrome-lined chamber and bore. A direct-gas impingement system operates a seven-lug, rotating bolt. The muzzle is threaded ½ x 28 TPI to accept a variety of flash hiders, compensators or suppressor mounts. An M16A2 flash compensator is included.
A removable sight assembly and carry handle, 30-round magazine and hard case are standard features on this rifle.
JP RIFLES PSC-11 Side-Charge Upper Receiver Kit
Now this is pretty interesting and will quickly be added to the “Must Own” list. While on the surface it’s quite expensive but once you dive in to the specs you realize it comes with a JP FULL MASS BOLT CARRIER GROUP, JP ENHANCED BOLT and PSC-11 RECIEVER it becomes a good value for what you are getting.
Here’s the information from JP Rifles
Since its introduction at SHOT Show 2011, our dual-charging PSC-11 platform has become a true hit. Integrating the popular side-charge system of the LRP-07 and SCR-11 platforms into a machined-from-billet receiver that doesn’t sacrifice any of the functionality or compatibility of a standard Mil-spec upper has made the PSC-11 the best-of-both-worlds option for the all-out tactical market. Now, for the home rifle builder, we’re making this platform available as a complete upper receiver kit including:
- PSC-11™ upper receiver
- Ejection port cover and hardware
- Forward assist and hardware
- Top- and side-charging systems
- Full Mass JP Bolt Carrier
- JP EnhancedBolt™ group (including bolt, cam pin, firing pin and firing pin retaining pin)
This kit assembles exactly like a standard forged upper with the simple addition of the side-charge handle, which slips into place as easily as a standard T-handle. If you can build an upper, you can build your own PSC-11 and tap the potential yourself.
NOTE: THE PSC-11 IS COMPATIBLE WITH ANY LOWER RECEIVER THAT WILL ACCEPT A STANDARD MIL-SPEC UPPER RECEIVER, BUT JP CANNOT GUARANTEE FUNCTION WITH ANY SPECIFIC LOWERS (OTHER THAN OUR OWN). IT IS THE END USER’S RESPONSIBLILITY TO VERIFY FINAL COMPATIBILITY.
AR-15 versus DPMS LR-308 Visually
Folks are often mistaken thinking they can convert an AR-15 to fire .308 Winchester/7.62 NATO. It can not be done. The AR-15 action and magazine well are not large enough to support the larger caliber.
Below are a CMMG AR-15 STRIPPED LOWER RECEIVER compared to a DPMS LR-308 STRIPPED LOWER RECEIVER
I think the pictures above make the differences obvious. Now in the picture below is a 24″ Bull Barrel AR-15 and a 24″ Bull Barrel DPMS LR-308. Both rifle are built using similar options. Again the differences are obvious. The DPMS weighs in at 16 pounds.
New rifle company takes over Bushmaster plant
WINDHAM — The former owner of Bushmaster Firearms International LLC and other investors have created a new rifle company in the former Bushmaster manufacturing plant in Windham.
Called Windham Weaponry, the company will make rifles and employ up to half of the 73 employees who worked at the Bushmaster plant, which closed earlier this year. More employees may be added before the end of the year, said a media release.
“A group of investors felt there was a great opportunity for a new company when Bushmaster Firearms International LLC decided to relocate the company to another state and lay off all its employees. These employees in many cases have 25 years of experience in making one of the finest rifles in the world,” said the release.
Windham Weaponry will be located in the Windham Business Park and will begin production in July, with initial shipments scheduled for September.
The investor group is led by Richard Dyke, who founded Bushmaster and sold the company to New York City-based private equity firm Cerberus Capital Management in April 2006 for an undisclosed sum.
Cerberus affiliates own Madison, N.C.-based Freedom Group, Bushmaster’s parent company, said a spokesman.
In December, Dyke said he owned the Windham property with his son, and that they had business plans in the works.
“I would like to attract some kind of manufacturing company, which I might or might not be an investor,” he said. “I can assure you (the property) won’t be empty.”
Dyke added that he had a noncompete agreement with Bushmaster’s owner that expired in April.
He could not be reached for comment today.
Tom Bartell, Windham’s economic development director, said Dyke established the new company without assistance from the town.
“When Bushmaster went out, Mr. Dyke stepped up and said, ‘I will try my best to … bring something back to Windham and to the workers,’ ” Bartell said. “Stepping up like he did says something about his talents and drive.”
Freedom Group announced in December that it would close the Bushmaster plant in March. Bushmaster employed 73 workers.
Freedom Group said it would retain the Bushmaster brand but move the manufacturing of products now made in Windham to other facilities.
Freedom Group owns other firearms manufacturers, including Remington Arms Co., Dakota Arms Cos., Parker Gunmakers, H&R 1871 and Marlin Firearms.
300 AAC BLACKOUT or 6.8 SPC II AR-15 PROJECT
After a bit of pondering I decided to do an ar 15 build project just for this sight. The only detail I need to decide is the caliber. The choice is 6.8 SPC II or .300 AAC BLACKOUT. Im leaning heavily towards the 300 AAC BLACKOUT as ammunition cost is on par with the 308 Winchester.
As for the build details Im leaning towards small and light but thats not cast in stone.
Anyhow I will start a dedicated page for the build once the details are finalized.
ACCUTACT ANGLESIGHT – SIGHT AROUND OBSTACLES and CORNERS
I noticed this at Policestore.com today.
- The ANGLESIGHT allows aiming and firing around obstacles and corners, without having to put your life in the line of fire.
- The ANGLESIGHT has dual path optics and allows the shooter to immediately transfer from a concealed shot to a standard shoulder aimed shot without repositioning the optic or rifle.
- The ANGLESIGHT delivers a new capability to the urban combat tactical environment for safely identifying and firing upon targets.
- The ANGLESIGHT rotates 360º and allows the shooter the flexibility to hold the weapon and aim through the side port at any direction: left, right, above, etc.
In training, the side window allows a coach or instructor an opportunity to see what the shooter sees.
- The ANGLESIGHT is a fully ruggedized 1x optical sight that is compatible with a wide variety of weapon sights including 1x tactical scopes, magnified weapon sights, laser designators and iron sights.
- The ANGLESIGHT is compatible with any caliber weapon including rifles, shotguns and less lethal weapons (gas guns) fitted with a picatinny rail.
- The ANGLESIGHT is entirely optical, requires no zeroing, calibration or external power source.
AR-15|M4|M16 PARA-TROOPER FOLDING CHARGING HANDLE
Here’s a new product from Brownells, it’s a para-trooper style folding handle for the AR-15 and M4. Looks pretty interesting. It’s labeled as their own product, who knows. Priced a little to steep for my wallet. If anyone out their has one or gets one I would appreciate some feedback, review and some pictures.
Thanks
Drew
Tactical charging handle has an oversized lever on the left side that folds against the receiver to present a slim, no-snag profile during carry or storage. Opens instantly to give you a larger grasping surface than the standard-issue handle, so you can find it and cycle it faster. Deeply serrated front face ensures non-slip hand contact for positive operation on the first attempt in all conditions. Lever angles down slightly when retracted, so it won’t interfere with a scope or sight mounted on the receiver rail. Drop-in ready for a mil-spec AR-15/M16 upper receiver; no gunsmithing required. Machined from billet 7075 T6 aluminum—the same material USGI receivers are made from—for superb strength and reliability. Hardcoat anodized to resist corrosion and surface wear; matte black finish matches most factory receiver finishes.
